New Steve Hackett Album Out Now

Out today is "The Night Siren," the lastest solo album by former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett.

In addition to Hackett's usual intricate, progressive brand of rock, the set also features topical and provocative songs about the state of the world -- including West To East, which features both Israeli and Palestinian musicians playing together. Hackett is currently on tour, playing both his own material as well as Genesis songs -- this year focusing on his final studio album with the group, 1977's Wind & Wuthering.

Hackett was not part of Genesis' last go-round, in 2007, and we asked the guitarist about the prospects for another Genesis reunion that would involve him:

"I have to say the same thing, that I've always been open to it. Meanwhile, I think that, I want to honor the music of the band, which is why I came up with this idea of Genesis Revisited, but I'm no longer doing exclusively a Genesis-based show. I do two halves; I do a solo set and I do a Genesis set, and some people prefer one, some people prefer the other."
