So, Basically Google Created iRobot, And It's Freaky

First drones were mythical, and now we've got them. Next Step? Something far more freaky than Short Circut's Number 5 or Wall-E combined: Robots that can actually walk and keep their balance on their own feet.

Watch this clip from Google, showing the humanoid robots. If you're afraid of technology, maybe you should watch it with a friend:

Atlas, the walking robot, was created by Boston Dynamics, who's parent company is Google. According to The Washington Post,  the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), are formulating these robots to see if they can  perform tasks in military and disaster-related situations that would be unsafe for humans. So for example, something like trying to get close to the Boston Bomber when he was hiding in the boat, this type of robot could move closely and get eyes and ears on a situation, in theory.

Still, it's scary to watch, especially if you have seen Will Smith's I Robot, which was set in 2035. If you figure, it's 2015 now... Oy.

Amy Cooper is a writer and pop culture fact nerd, and on multiple occasions has been referred to as a “Walking iPod.”
