Today’s artist of the day is Genesis which makes me think back to the creepy video for “Land Of Confusion.”
From the 1986 “Invisible Touch” album, this video could have given you nightmares with the creepy Genesis puppets. However, the tone of the song was political (which was rare for Genesis), questioning the world leaders in the Cold War era where Phil Collins states that the song is about “the political mess we’ve landed in.”
“Land Of Confusion” was the ONLY Grammy that Genesis ever won, but it was for “Best Concept Video” and not for the song…plus, the band isn’t even in the video!
It reached #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in late 1986 and is still remembered for the video more than anything. Enjoy!
